  • Wake P. - Captain John and Chef Macrina were beyond what we could have hoped for. They are an absolutely adorable couple whose passion for life and for each other is infectious and was the icing on the cake of an incredible experience. The food was fresh and fantastic and Macrina's candid observations of our progress were as welcome as John's.

As someone who does technical instruction for a living, I really appreciated John's teaching style. It was organic but still structured. He could tell what we already understood well and spent more time emphasizing what could keep us out of trouble or perhaps save our lives. At times it was like drinking from a firehose, but there was still lots of down time for recreating in this unspoiled part of the world (snorkelling with sea lions, exploring mangroves with the dinghy). We left the course feeing like we had made two new friends and with a good foundation to continue what we hope is a lifetime of learning under sail.

We really feel like we got so much more than what was promised. If you are considering doing your ASA certifications, do not hesitate to book with West Coast Multihulls in La Paz. There are not enough superlatives to describe our time with John and Macrina.
